TuneWell
Professional music player for sound engineers and audiophiles.
Engineering-grade audio for critical listening.
Parametric EQ with AutoEQ
TuneWell’s own equalizer, computed in 64-bit, runs inside both of its playback paths. Up to 32 bands of peaking and shelving filters, shown as a curve, plus a preamp. Headphone corrections from the AutoEq project are built in, more than 6,000 measurements, with a choice of 5, 8 or 10 filters. Presets import from Poweramp, from Equalizer APO parametric text (as AutoEq, squig.link and REW write it) and from GraphicEQ text, and export through the share sheet.
High-Res Audio
FLAC, WAV (including RF64 and BW64), AIFF, DSD (DSF and DFF, including DST-compressed DFF, up to DSD512), WMA and WMA Lossless, MP3, AAC, OGG and Opus. ALAC, APE, WavPack and E-AC-3 (Dolby Digital Plus) play where the phone’s own decoder supports them.
Bit-Perfect USB Output
Where the phone maker offers a bit-perfect USB path, TuneWell sends audio to a USB DAC untouched. DSD can go out as DoP to DACs that accept it, and PCM above 192 kHz plays at the file’s own rate. On newer phones without that path, TuneWell asks the system to run the DAC at each track’s sample rate. Output diagnostics in Settings show the output device and its formats, with a DoP test and a USB DAC test.
32-Bit Float, End to End
Outside bit-perfect mode, decoding and output stay in 32-bit float with no 16-bit truncation, and DSD converted to PCM goes through a multi-stage Kaiser filter chain.
Plays What Others Can’t
WMA and WMA Lossless files that other players reject. TuneWell reads the ASF container itself and decodes it with its own bundled engine.
Playback
Gapless playback for the formats the phone decodes (tracks TuneWell decodes itself, such as DSD and WAV, still have a short pause between them), crossfade from 1 to 10 seconds, a fade on pause, picking up where you stopped when the app starts, and a sleep timer of 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes or to the end of the current track.
Now Playing
An optional waveform seek bar and visualizer, a background tinted from the album art, generated artwork for tracks without a cover, and a lock-screen player on newer phones.
Lyrics
Synced and plain lyrics embedded in the file, .lrc files next to the track, and optional online lyrics from LRCLIB, off by default. Open them full screen, or follow the live lyric line in the player.
Track Info and Audio Quality
One sheet with the file’s format, sample rate, bit depth and bit rate, an audio quality report analysed on the phone, and an optional metadata lookup from MusicBrainz with covers from the Cover Art Archive, off by default. Changes stay inside TuneWell and never touch your music files.
Smart Playlists
Favorites, most played, recently added, recently played and mood playlists, plus browsing by album and by artist.
Scrobbling
Send your listens to Last.fm, ListenBrainz or Libre.fm. Listens made offline are queued and sent later. Off until you sign in.
Home-Screen Widget
A resizable widget with album art or a generated cover, transport controls and a background opacity slider. Larger sizes add the current lyric line and a live visualizer.
Telegram Music Browser
Optionally play audio from Telegram channels and groups you have added a bot to. Files download to your device and play locally, and it stays off until you connect it.
Themes
Dark, light or follow the system, an AMOLED black option, and a choice of accent colours.
