LedgerWell Privacy Policy

LedgerWell is a personal debt and credit tracker that runs entirely on your device. It has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. This policy explains, plainly, what that means for your data.

What We Collect

Nothing.

LedgerWell has no sign-up or sign-in, no user accounts, and no servers that receive your information. It contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no tracking or identifiers of any kind. SeMo Lab never receives your financial data, and we could not access it even if we wanted to.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your accounts, transactions, contacts, split details, custom currencies and settings — including the name you choose to show on your own share of a split — are saved in the app's local storage on your phone. They stay there. Nothing is uploaded, synced, or backed up to us.

If you enable the optional app lock, your password never leaves the device and is never stored in plain text — only a SHA-256 hash of it is kept in the device's secure storage. If you use fingerprint or face unlock, that biometric data is handled entirely by Android and is never accessible to LedgerWell.

Network Connections

LedgerWell makes exactly one kind of network request: fetching public currency exchange rates from exchangerate-api.com so your balances can convert into your default currency.

That request contains no personal or financial information — no accounts, no transactions, no identifiers. As with any request to any website, the provider can see your device's IP address. You can avoid the connection entirely by turning off Auto Update Exchange Rates in Settings; the rest of the app works fully offline.

Backups You Create

The export feature writes your accounts, transactions, contacts, split details, custom currencies and settings into a single file that you save or share wherever you choose. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and we never see it.

Once you have exported a file, keeping it safe is up to you — it contains your ledger in readable form, so store or share it with the same care you would any personal financial document.

Permissions

LedgerWell requests only two things: internet access, used solely to refresh exchange rates, and biometric authentication, used only if you turn on the app lock.

It does not request location, camera, microphone, contacts, or broad storage access. The only files it touches are ones you explicitly pick when importing or exporting a backup.

Children and Minors

LedgerWell collects no personal data from anyone, of any age, and therefore collects none from minors. The app contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, and no user-to-user communication.

Because no information ever reaches SeMo Lab, there is nothing for a parent or guardian to request the deletion of. If you have any concern about a minor's use of the app, contact us at info@semo-lab.com.

Your Rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete the personal data a company holds about you. SeMo Lab holds no personal data about LedgerWell users, so there is nothing for us to retrieve, amend, or erase. We do not sell or share personal information, because we never receive any.

You keep full control of your data on your own device: you can export it at any time, erase it with Reset All Data in Settings, or remove everything by uninstalling the app. Uninstalling deletes it all — there is no cloud copy to clean up afterwards.

Changes to This Policy

If LedgerWell's privacy practices ever change, this page will be updated and the date above revised. Material changes will be described here rather than quietly amended.
